On 6 December 2025 at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne, the Vacant Men’s Australian Super Middleweight title was fought for between Lachlan Higgins, who in recent times had fought all the best boxers in Australia, and Donald Jones who was at the start of his professional career with just two fights.
The contest was expected to be and was a torrid affair for the full 10 rounds which the fight went.
From the opening bell Donald was the aggressor, continually moving forward and landing with both hands. Lachlan was slow to start but started to land with counter punches in the second round. It was non-stop action with Donald appearing to wear Lachlan down by the middle rounds. It was a testament to the fortitude of Lachlan that he continued fight and land over the duration of the whole fight.
The final scores were 100/90 by two judges and 97/93 by the third judge.
The ANBF congratulates both boxers for a great title fight, and to Donald Jones for becoming the Men’s Australian Super Middleweight champion.
