Leek v Brubaker in a tough 10 rnd Middleweight Title

Mitchell Leek retained his title (1st Defence) via a Unanimous Points Decision and received a Defence Medallion by defeating Jack Brubaker at the Melbourne Pavillion on June 19th

A good contest which on the whole would have been viewed as quite even although Leek was judged (scored) to win nearly every round. Brubaker was knocked down in round 2  and was given an eight (8) count and allowed to continue. Brubaker received a forehead cut in round four (4) which was looked at by the doctor at the start of round six (6) it was deemed not detrimental to his vision and he was allowed to continue. Leek was stronger throughout the contest and managed to get the better of the exchanges. Brubaker tired in the latter rounds as Leek took control of the contest.
