Australian Heavyweight Title defence by champion Kris Terzievski against challenger Faiga Opelu.
This fight was also for the vacant Commonwealth Boxing Council Heavyweight title, which was the first time in over 100 years that the Commonwealth Boxing Council Heavyweight title had been fought in Australia.
The fight started with Faiga Opelu moving forward but with Kris Terzievski scoring with sharp punches and narrowly winning the first two rounds. It was shaping up to be a great contest.
In round three Kris Terzievski went down from a punch and with Opelus falling on top of him resulting in a accidental injury to a leg of Kris. The accidental injury was much that Kris could not continue and the referee waved the fight over. As a result, the decision was a technical draw.
This was a very unfortunate end to what was shaping as a great heavyweight title fight.
