ANBF AUSTRALIAN WELTERWEIGHT TITLE – CHAMPION JASON MALLIA V CHALLENGER MARCO ROMEO
Both boxers commenced at an even pace, testing each other and using the whole ring. Romeo dictated the flow from the second round and Mallia responded with less scoring punches. Romeo hit hard in round five and Mallia did well to survive the round. Mallia got a breather in round six while his corner fixed loose tape on the glove. In round seven Romeo applied the pressure scoring with strong left jabs, Mallia doing his best to hang on. Referee Les Fear called a halt to the fight in round 8, saving Mallia from further punishment.
