KIRRA RUSTON THE NEW NATIONAL LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION IN HIS FIFTH PROFESSIONAL FIGHT.

VACANT AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOXING FEDERATION LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

HORDERN PAVILION – MOORE PARK, NSW

WEDNESDAY 12 MARCH 2025

An animated full house welcomed both boxers into the ring.  KIRRA RUSTON  (4-0-0) was having his second fight in eleven days taking on TONGA TONGOTONGO (9-0-0) for the vacant light heavyweight title.

The first round commenced cautiously, with both fighters aware of each other’s KO record. Ruston was calm and patient against his strong opponent and easily won the first two rounds.   The next three rounds were full of action from both, with Ruston’s jabs making their mark on Tongotongo’s head.  Tongotongo started well in the sixth round but Ruston caught him with some solid blows putting him down for the count in the corner.  Tongotongo survived the eight count and the bell rang for the end of the round.

The referee went to Tongotongo’s corner to check on him and was advised to stop the fight.

CONGRATULATIONS – KIRRA RUSTON ON BECOMING THE NEW NATIONAL LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION IN HIS FIFTH PROFESSIONAL FIGHT.
