In what was tipped to be a very close contest, Jayden Joseph fought Daniel Russell for the vacant men’s Australian Cruiserweight Title at the Melbourne Pavilion on 30th August 2019.
The contest commenced with Daniel outworking Jayden in the first part of the fight. As Jayden “warmed up” he started to match Daniel in work rate and landed some of the best punches of the fight. However, Daniel maintained his composure throughout the fight and out punched Jayden in many of the exchanges in what were many close rounds. The final score cards were 100/91, 96/94 and 96/94 to Daniel. While there were no knockdowns it was an intense contest throughout.
